Our tulips bloomed yesterday! When we got to school this morning we saw that 6 of the 50 we planted have bloomed. That may seem like very few, but our tulips have taken a great deal of abuse. The fences we placed around the tulip bed have been torn down 3 times. The tulips have been walked on over and over. And yet, bent and broken as they are, we have blooms! We are amazed at the urge to grow and bloom that kept them from dying.
Over the weekend our weather went from cold to warm and sunny. Not just the tulips bloomed, but daffodils, forsythia and fruit trees also.
We hope that more than 6 of our tulips will keep on keeping on and bloom! We learned that next time we will choose a site less scientifically correct, but safer from foot traffic across the school lawn.
