Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/22/2007

Number: 1

The Monarch was in excellent shape (as viewed with close-focusing 8X binoculars at 20 feet) and was wandering through the largely lifeless hummingbird/butterfly garden where all early blooms had been frozen out in the deep cold several weeks ago. The only reviving blossums were Honesty, Bluets, Dandelions, Virginia Bluebells, violets and Birdsfoot Violets. Corral Honeysuckle blooms, columbine and a few nearby surviving lilac and apple flower buds will soon open. It did not stop at blooming Breath-of-Spring bushes next to garden.
