Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/30/2007

Number: 1

Monarch butterfly was sighted this morning about 10 AM flying across my deck in the sunshine near a hummingbird feeder.

The butterfly reappeared very briefly late yesterday afternoon (April 30). It has been on the cool side up here in northern Michigan -- but we had a warm , sunny weekend (low 70's on Sunday) & yesterday ijt was in the 60's, very little breeze & sunshine. Yesterday actually felt warmer than the thermometer registered. Today, it is in the 40's with rain & mist. I don't know if the milkweed is up yet--I live on a lake surrounded by woods. I was quite surprised to see the Monarch, as I've been watching for the Hummingbirds
