Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 05/03/2007

Number: 1

At 6:30 pm on May 3rd, a female ruby-throated hummingbird was eating at my feeder. Later, it was sitting in a cedar hedge in the yard. My home is located about 500 feet from Lake Huron. Each year, hummers start arriving the first week of May. Many hummers spend a short time here each spring as they migrate farther north. We usually have 2 - 3 resident hummers stay all summer. They depart the last week of September every year.
