Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/08/2007

Number: 1

Several students noticed a Monarch Butterfly flying around the playground at Columbus Academy during recess. They didn't get a close look but they are hoping it's a female and will lay eggs on their Milkweed in their Monarch Waystation.

Confirmed: Sorry for the delay but I was checking on the validity of our sightings with parents and the students again.
I do believe the report is accurate. Our students have worked quite a bit with Monarch with rearing them, tagging, and planting a butterfly garden and their milkweed garden. Also that day I checked with Sarah Dalton, who is a naturalist near us who has worked with Monarch for many years and has reported in the past the first Monarch butterfly in the Columbus area, of whether to report this to you and she thought I should.
