I saw my first oriole today! They were COVERING the hills early this morning when I went out to look and listen. I could hear them singing from various places near and far. It was such a pronounced arrival this year.
We noticed a wonderful fragrance coming from the white birch trees yesterday, and lots of warblers. Today I pulled down a twig and noticed that it was shiny and sticky. There are aphids (I think) on the leaves. The orioles and warblers were both picking through the leaves on the tree-tops, finding insects to eat in the brand new leaves I assume.
