Today at 11:00AM CST I sighted my first Monarch of the season.
Here in Lake Ozark, MO 65049 I was driving on Cherokee Dr. & Linn Dr.intersection and viewed one only small Monarch flying at about 20 feet above the ground........seemed to be on a Northerly course. No others were viewed in the immediate area or within a 10 mile radius.
Confirmed: (5/16)Totally 100% Monarch. With our very hard freeze earlier this season our butterfly bushes have been severely stunted. Base of bushes are just starting to get new growth (2-3 inches). We are very close, 20 yards, from the shores of Lake of the Ozarks and our temps. in the spring are MILDER than inland.
Since my sighting I have still NOT seen another Monarch. I am always out and around, 5-10 mile radius, of our home for the entire day. I AM ALWAYS LOOKING but nothing more to report.
