My 1st milkweed shoot is poking its head out of the ground! (I'll adjust the date when its first leaves appear.)

However, the plant is growing next to the foundation where the sun strikes the ground for at least half of the day. I'm sure milkweed in our fields will emerge quite a bit later because our lilacs have not even bloomed yet!
