I have seen two more monarchs today and yesterday (5/17), here in Forest Park IL, too far away to tell whether fresh or faded, but definitely monarchs. Also, I was at the floristically-rich Belmont Prairie in Downers Grove this evening, and recent rains have given the common and purple milkweed a good head-start! They were about a foot tall on average. It always amazes me that the milkweed's up when the butterflies are here!
