All Other Signs of Spring

Mayflies are back in Marmora!! Every spring we watch for the hatching of the Mayflies in the town of Marmora because it tells us that the bass and the trout will be hungry for flying 'bugs'! I was working at Sacred Heart school today and in the afternoon, we observed many clouds of mayflies in the air and landing on the playground equipment. We are located on the Trent-Severn waterway in eastern Ontario. This spring the mayflies hatched a week earlier than usual, but the weather has been very warm and the water is warm enough for a few brave swimmers to get their feet wet!
