Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/11/2007

Number: 1

My wife and I have raised Monarchs in the past so we are always looking for Monarch activity. The one I spotted on the 11th caught me by surprise b/c it seems so early in the season for MN. I have since seen another one in the same area. They were both fluttering around and landing on shrubs/low tree branches.
The wing condition seemed OK, hard to tell but I would guess they were older, not as bright coloring as new ones. Weather has been warm with some very hot days mixed in. Avg. precip. as well.
The milkweed is coming up great around here. Some already is 2 ft. tall.
