Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/17/2007

Number: 1

Around 2:30pm, after releasing 1M & 1F Eastern Black Swallowtail (that had emerged after overwintering in our garage on Monday PM), a beautiful Monarch flew right in front of me as I was headed back to the house. I was so surprised to see it that I froze, and didn't even follow it to check to see if it was a male or female! The weather today was in the 70's.
Last night, the possibility of frost was predicted overnight, and this morning, the Impatiens on the floor of our raised deck looked like they had definately gotten close to freezing--hope they'll bounce back. Yesterday, we had some gusty storms come through, and it was in the 60's. A few days before this, we had one daytime temp @ 90 degrees!!!
