I was watering the newly transplanted pine trees in the drought-stricken center of the land of sky tinted waters, when a northbound, moderately bedraggled, monarch zipped by without so much as a by your leave or a fair thee well. It was 12:40 by the garden sundial, sunny, wind from the south at approx. 12-15mph, 60 degrees.
