Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/22/2007

Number: 1

One Monarch yesterday (5/23), my first, today lots! I have seen at least 10 around the Thunder Bay area out to Kakabeka Falls today, and Al Harris reports 13 today between 4 and 6 pm around Thunder Bay.

This is a major influx, the likes of which we haven't seen before. My milkweeds haven't come up yet so there is nowhere for them to lay eggs. It was very warm today, +27C with a wind from the south.

Dr. Nick Escott is the Chair of the Thunder Cape Bird
Observatory Committee. Take a look an >a href="http://www.tbfn.net/tcbotbfn.htm">aerial view of Thunder Cape.
