Tulips BLOOMED

Date: 05/15/2007

Number: 1

After a few days of watching a tulip look like it was going to bloom (it was all puffed out on three petals, but they were still touching at the top - next year I'll know that when they look like that, it does not mean 'bloom') its neighbor bloomed! These were in the wellhouse garden, in a line running east to west. On the 24th there are still tulips blooming in that line, and some that haven't bloomed yet. In the 'stump garden,' getting full sun, but were second out from the snow, I have tulips that first bloomed the 22nd, but had been ready to bloom since the previous week, but were deterred by the cool (40's and 50's) weather. In the 'culvert garden' which gets little sun, I have 2-3 that have survived and emerged, but none of them have bloomed yet.
