Morin Heights, Quebec, is in the Laurentian Mountains north of Montreal. We have a weekend home nearby at an altitude of about 1,700 ft. above sea level. Our spring season runs about 5-7 days later than at the bottom of the mountain, and autumn comes in the same number earlier.

The ice melted off the lake the 21st of April, and weekend of April 28, the loon was already there. He and the missus nest either on our lake or on a nearby lake, but if not on our lake, then he flies in daily to spend most of the day. If they nest on our lake, then they and babies fill our days with crazy antics and evenings and nights with eerie calls.
