I saw one monarch in pretty good shape, in downtown Detroit feeding on flowering, newly planted minature lilacs. The "pollinators" garden at my house includes new patches of spring flowering columbine, blue phlox, and golden alexaneders (and old-fashioned lilacs). The monarch, however, showed up at the plaza at my office building.
