Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/23/2007

Number: 1

The weather was like a typical windy summer day, about 25 degrees C. The sky was clear, a little muggy and the wind was at about 30 km/hr out of the west, south-west. The monarch was flying from one milkweed plant to another as if it was sniffing out just the right plants to leave eggs on. Of course I couldn’t tell if it was male or female. It flittered about the yard for about an hour and then disappeared downwind towards the east.

Two days later we had another visit from a monarch and it looked like it was scouting out the milkweed in the garden but moved on after about 15 minutes. Hopefully one or more will come back and lay eggs like they did last year.
