Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/26/2007

Number: 1

Those 3 eggs I found on Wednesday, May 23rd? They hatched last night, Saturday, May 26th. So cute, these microscopic mini monarch cats!

Between the little milkweed plants growing in my garden, plus the plants out on the road, I should have no shortage of food for these little guys. But most plants are still really small. No big milkweed plants to feed hungry 5th instar cats! If, there are more out there. I hope they grow quickly.

By the way, hubby came home yesterday & said, "Saw a monarch butterfly at work yesterday, flying around." Don works at The Wigamog Inn & Resorst, half way between Haliburton Village & Minden.
