Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 06/03/2007

Number: 1

Here's what's happened in the last two weeks:
On May 25th, I spotted the first eggs. (Some might have been deposited on the 24th.) On May 31, the first larva emerged right on schedule, and a few more in the next two days. As of today, I have spotted seven caterpillars, some of which may have molted once already. They're about half an inch long and the head is different than the first emerging "bulgy" look.
I got some very nice close up video and stills of the newly emerged larvae.
As of yet, I have not succeeded in catching an actual live hatch.
Hope all is well for other Monarch watchers. Good year so far.
