Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/29/2007

Number: 1

On May 28,as we were traveling home from a north shore holiday weekend, we observed 31 adult monarch's while on the North Shore of Lake Superior in the Lutsen area and going South on Hwy 61 to Duluth. There had been a bad storm the night before and a number of them had washed up on the shores of Lake Superior but were still alive we removed them to safety. While we were at the Palisade cliffs - we counted at least 15 - the flowers blooming on the North Shore at this time were: tulips, dandelions, bleeding heart - it was cold, rainy and very windy. We observed them feeding mostly on dandelions. They were everywhere - but we offically counted 31
