Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 06/04/2007

Number: 1

I live in Baker City, Oregon, however my sighting was near Richland Oregon on the Powder River arm of the Snake River. I had noticed the Milkweed was in bloom but thought it was too early to even hope for a sighing. We had a strong east wind the night before and it was overcast about 86 degrees. My husband and I were fishing when I spotted an orange butterfly, had to pull up our motters to get close enough to make a positive ID as we have a lot of Califorina Tortise Shell here.

This my first sighting in Oregon in 5 years.. What a thrill-
