Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 06/02/2007

Number: 1

I spotted my first-of-the-year Monarch on Saturday, June 2 in my aunt's backyard in Estevan, Saskatchewan The following day, a Monarch fluttered around my garden - same neighbourhood as above.

Monday, June 4 and Tuesday, June 5 I was birding in the area between Estevan and Roche Percee Sask. (along the local part of the Souris River). I saw Monarchs on Monday at a wooded, former park area (1) and the following day, I came across 2 fluttering around roadside ditches, and another 2-3 in the wooded area.

Estevan is ~10km north of the US border and 100 km west of the Manitoba border. (49° 08' 00" N - 102° 59' 00" W)
