Today at Field Day I saw a Monarch fluttering above our class. I think it returned a little later to make sure we saw it. A parent said she saw two fluttering around together by Lake Hopatcong. There are probably eggs on some nearby milkweed patch.
I am assuming that these Monarchs are not from the hundreds of Saturday released Monarchs a town or two north of here as I could have sworn I heard an "Hola, Senora Grady!"
So the Monarchs are here to stay in north west New Jersey. We will accept them whatever way they arrive. I have three sighted for the Lake Hopatcong section of Jefferson Township.
