One of my students brought a monarch caterpillar to school today. He found it himself in a field near his house AS AN EGG!!! He took it home and watched it crawl out of its egg and eat the case. It's now a second instar and was munching actively at school today. Another student has also found eggs near her home. I wonder if this is unusually early for eastern Ontario.
