Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 06/03/2007

Number: 1

Around the beginning of the month, on a 85 degree day, I had a monarch in my
yard here in Battle Ground. It was nectaring on Physocarpus when I spotted
it. I grabbed my camera and chased it around the yard for a couple minutes
before it flew off. I wasn't able to get a picture of it. I have a couple
hundred ascelpia plants here at the nursery but they show no evidence of
eggs or caterpillars. I've put off reporting this because it seemed so
unlikely, but with all the other sightings recently now maybe it makes more
sense.
