Today I saw my first male and female monarchs in my yard.
I knew a female had arrived early last week as I found several eggs on my milkweed, but no more. Today, while gardening, I spotted a female checking out the milkweed but only "shooting blanks" each time she landed. So, I netted her and put her in the breeding house with potted tropical m/w. I went inside later on and gently picked her up and placed her on m/w and she presented me with several new eggs.
Later in the day I had a male patrolling the gardens, probably in search of his mate who is behind screened doors! Guess it's monarch time! :)
