Monarchs galore - and by galore I guess I mean 7, but still, that's the most I've ever seen in Alberta by, oh, seven I'd say! They must be here in good numbers I think!
Friday I saw 3 at Dry Island Buffalo Jump (51° 56' 38"
N - 112° 57' 49" W)about lunch time - all purposefully and directly travelling NW in the Red Deer River Valley, just at shrub top height..
Yesterday, 2 more at Tolman Bridge on the Red Deer River heading NW along the valley again and two more this morning, same place. I nearly got a photo too, since the high wind this morning was trying to ground them. There is no doubt about what they were though.
I did not spot a single one outside the river valley though between those places and Calgary.
