Date: 06/14/2007

Number: 1

I was visiting in Winnipeg, Manitoba this month and wasdelighted to spot several Monarchs. I have seen many pictures, butnever in real life, and I was astonished at their size! I spotted themtwice in the city, and managed to get a photo, though very small, toadd to my collection. Here are the details:

June 14, City of Winnipeg, in a city wetland park area. Three Monarchsfloating around, didn't light on any flowers that I could see. In factthey didn't seem to stop at all! Warm, humid day, about 28 c.Intermittent sun.

June 16, City of Winnipeg in "The Forks" prairie garden. Another threeMonarchs flying around, and occasionally stopping on a gallardia flower(orange and yellow sunflower style, dark center). They didn't stop onany other flowers that I could see. Again, warm and humid, about 28 C.Sunny.
