Red-winged Blackbird (FIRST sighted)

Date: 06/19/2007

Number: 1

I noticed the female redwing eating out of one of our birdfeeders. Then I noticed the male redwing coming over to another birdfeeder that is sitting in our arbor near the house.
My husband had noticed the redwings in marshes in the city of Edmonton on cattails. This is the first time that we have had redwings coming in our yard to feed. The marshes are disappearing in the city because of construction. This is very exciting for me to see these birds in our yard. I have put out a big variety of birdfeeders this year with different kinds of seeds (cracked corn, black oil sunflower seeds, nut and fruit mixture)
