Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 08/15/2007

Number: 1

We have been seeing five or more monarch butterflies each day in our butterfly garden especially in July and August. The continued strong presence suggests the monarch population may be promising a heavy migration this fall. In late June, I observed a first for me--a monarch butterfly flying north on Nauset Light Beach on Cape Cod near where Henry Beston wrote his nature classic The Outermost House. The butterfly was as far east as it could be in the continental United States!
