Signs of Fall

Date: 08/26/2007

Number: 1

About two weeks ago we were having a lone female Rufous or Ruby-throated female visiting the backyard and nectaring on either the pentas or scarlet salvia. We had a single feeder out but we never saw them visit it, only at the flowers. After the tropical storm Erin and then thru Dean, we were hoping the large fall arrival would not start ... well it started the last two days and we now have Rugy-throats fighting each other for the flowers and also for places at the six feeders we now have out. We talked to others this morning that care for the hummers and they said the same thing, that the Ruby-throat migration south is beginning in full swing and will get really interesting next week.
