Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 08/21/2007

Number: 1

Starting @ around 4 pm hundreds of monarchs came to 1 elm tree, congregating largely on the N side of it. Day was sunny, clear, windy. I'd say we watched about 3 hrs. with about 50/hr coming from every direction. Most were gone the next a.m. I mentioned it to our butterfly curator @ local zoo. She & others sighted the same behavior around cottages @ Lake Ontario the same day.
