I started tagging the monarchs I've reared last weekend. #50 was tagged today - 30 males and 20 females. This is the first time I've tagged - it's much easier than I thought it would be, especially when the butterflies can be tagged a few hours after they first emerge. On the days I work and don't release them until later in the day, they are in such a hurry to fly that it's harder to tag and accurately sex them. Unfortunately I only ordered 50 tags so won't be able to tag until my new tags arrive - hopefully in time to tag the 3 newly hatched cats I found in my back yard today...
