Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/03/2007

Number: 1

A neighbor reported seeing hundreds of monarchs on Monday Sept. 3rd
in the late afternoon, roosting on fields of goldenrod and boneset.
I was out of town. When I visited the site the next day, it was cooler and cloudy, the monarchs had already moved on.
However, I just found half dozen monarch caterpillars on the milkweed in my garden, as did my friend in her garden.
So there will be monarchs on the move for awhile from up here in
N.Y. State, 100 miles north of NYC.
