Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/01/2007

Number: 1

Hundreds of Monarchs arrived and roosted in my back yard trees on Saturday Sept 1st 2007 here on the north shore of Lake Erie. Most of them stayed all week-end and this morning, Tuesday Sept 4th, a few dozen remain. The daytime temperatures over this time period have reached 22 C and nighttime temps have dropped to 8 C. Winds over the long week-end have been light, but sometimes gusting to around 15 kph from off the lake (so from the south).
