The weather predictions for a very warm day - up to 28 C with south-westerly winds were a clear sign that it would be a good day for collecting monarchs for the Thicksons Woods Festival on Saturday.
While I only captured 20 monarchs in the declining buddleia in Oakville, I captured almost 300 in a large field of goldenrod east of Toronto on the north shore of Lake Ontario.
About 4:30 pm, as predicted, the dark clouds, rain and thunder moved in with the cold front. Tomorrow's high a cool 17 C, but warming up again next week.
