Yesterday morning (8/23) I observed many Monarchs at Forman Park in Pultneyville NY. This small village is located on the South shore of Lake Ontario approximately 30 miles east of Rochester. During a period of time from 10:15 AM until 11:00 AM I saw 30 Monarchs heading west along the lake shore. Also small groups of twenty or so Monarchs roosting in three trees close to shore and many nectaring on small flowers in lawn.
I am also seeing Monarchs every day in our newly established Way Station in Penfield ( eastern suburb of Rochester NY). Yesterday we also had a Giant Swallowtail. First time I have ever seen one!
