As I was entering the school this morning a colleague had discovered a Monarch near the butterfly garden. She was hoping to use it for her math lesson on patterns, but it flew away. I had not seen one near our butterfly garden in quite awhile and I was so excited. The yellow color on it's wings seemed a bit light and I thought perhaps it was not a Monarch. My colleague said it was. Is there a reason for this lemmon yellow color on the wings rather than the deeper yellow I usually see?
