Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/20/2007

Number: 1

A beautiful day filled with many Monarchs as a large group came through the city! This morning around 9:15 am, I drove almost 20 miles from the north of the city, across the Missouri River and on to the south. Everywhere I looked, there were Monarchs flying over the highways. Numerous times I saw them in groups of 3 or more.

In Lees Summit, Missouri, I was able to sit outside from 1:15 pm to 1:45 pm and counted 25 Monarchs in that time. Mostly sunny day, temperatures in the mid-80's, mild to strong breeze from the south.
