Date: 09/23/2007

Number: 1

September 23
Migration peaking my Kansas locale. Monarchs began flying early this morning and continued steady through the day. Many resting in my trees even in the early afternoon which is consistent with migration peaks in the past.(Normal peak my latitude is Sept. 23/24). I was able to tag 82 beginning about 3:30.

Monarch numbers remain steady here in Kansas. I have tagged 217 this week (9/16-22). The heaviest numbers I observed were on the 19th. I could count between 5-7 per mile along country roads. On the 20th and 21st, numbers slowed down, but were back up today (9/22).
