Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/23/2007

Number: 300

I have not seen the thousands that I saw last year but I did see several hundred. About sunset, several trees were covered with these beautiful butterflies. They look so much like tiny stained glass window panes when their wings are shut for the night.

Editor’s Note: We are estimating 300 monarchs based on observer’s estimate of “several hundred.”
