Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/26/2007

Number: 1

September 27
Another report from relatives at Canton Lake in Oklahoma.
Monarchs were streaming over the lake again today. They watched as many of the Monarchs dipped down and touched the water (taking a drink?) before flying back up again and continuing south.
They will check again in the morning for roosts where I found them while visiting two years ago.
I'm not sure they understand exactly where to look..... hopefully they will look all around in the trees at the edge of the lake.

My mother-in-law is fishing at Canton Lake, near Canton OK., about an hour northwest of Oklahoma City.
She called today to let me know that they didn't pay much attention to fishing this morning because they were so busy watching the Monarchs crossing the lake. She couldn't believe what HUGE numbers were flying together. I didn't get an estimate from her.
She will check tonight to see if they are roosting in the sight we found two years ago, in a group of trees near the waters edge. Stephanie- Posted on Monarch Watch D-plex.
