While we were on one of our nature hunts, I was amazed to see a big beautiful Monarch nectaring on red clover. The butterfly was very big and colorful and fresh looking.
It set me wondering if the Monarch was a product of a field where willows were pulled out this Spring and the land had gone back to grass and wild plants. The field was full of milkweed all summer.
Where was my net and my camera? This was the first time I have seen a Monarch this late in September.
