Monarchs maintained steady progress across Wichita Falls, TX all day Tuesday, Oct. 9 under clear skies, temps in the 70s and northerly wind 5-10 mph.


Some 200+ Monarchs apparently took an early afternoon break, resting on the sides of buildings at Midwestern State University (33 52' 34.48"N, 98 31' 15.26"W).


Between 5:20pm & 5:40pm CDT Monarchs counted were proceeding North at the rate of approx. 60 per hour at 33 51' 23.55"N, 98 31' 23.59"W.


Between 7pm & 7:30pm 112 Monarchs were counted moving into or roosting in willows at Lake Wichita Park (33 50' 21.49N, 98 33' 23.03W).
