Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 10/13/2007

Number: 2000

Thousands of butterflies roosting in the Water Lily Park near the Concho River. Some flying around, but most of them clustered on the trees, looking at first glance like dead leaves.

Editor’s Note: We are estimating a minimum of 2000 monarchs based on observer’s estimate of “thousands.”
