The 6th, 7th and 8th grade students of Exploratory Spanish at our school spent the first six weeks of the school year learning about the Monarch butterfly, its life cycle and its connection with Mexico. The students reared 30 butterflies, tagged them and released them. We are hoping one of ours gets recovered in one of the sanctuaries in Mexico. It was also fun for the students to make symbolic butterflies and to write Spanish messages on them.
Los estudiantes de sexto, séptimo y octavo en nuestro colegio, pasaron las primeras seis semanas del año escolar estudiando a las mariposas monarcas. Ellos criaron 30 mariposas, les pusieron un "tag" y las dejaron ir. También crearon monarcas simbólicas y mandaron mensajes en español para los estudiantes de México. Nos encantaría si una de nuestras mariposas fuera recobrada en uno de los santuarios en México. Este ha sido un lindo proyecto. ¡Gracias!
