Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/17/2007

Number: 100

We happened to be walking past one of our 100+ year old Maple Trees that evening and found a Monarch roosting site. We counted over 100 monarchs. I stopped counting at 64 on one branch alone. It was right at dusk and there were still several flying around the area. We have a new butterfly garden that was about 50 feet away from this roost. We do have pictures of the sight. The next evening there were only about 20, with only 6 the evening after that. Absolutely phenomenal sight!
