The activity on the 17th was phenomenal. They were streaming in all day and finding places to roost in our big trees. Us humans stayed away from them and didn't disturb them, but my dogs ran under the low-hanging branches a couple of times chasing squirrels, and the butterflies just 'boiled' out of the branches, only to return a few minutes after the dogs had passed. Then yesterday - snap! - there was not a Monarch to be seen.
But, it was a good year for them here at this ranch.
We were blessed.

They're gone!! Following peak activity on October 16 and 17, they were completely gone by noon on October 18.
