Yesterday I found a crysalis on the cement floor of my carport. It was pale green with gold dots on it and I didn't recognize it. I put it in the dirt of a potted plant, not holding much hope for its successful emergence. Last night a cold front blew through with rain and high wind. This afternoon I checked the potted plant and found a new monarch, just holding on for dear life, next to the empty crysalis.
